Trustees’ Week – 4th-8th November

In the second of our series for Trustees’ Week, we’d like to introduce you to Simone Thompson, our Trustee with specialisms in fund-raising and leading charities.

Thank you Simone, for all that you do to help others.

Introduce yourself
My name is Simone Thompson and I am delighted to have recently joined the Board at Unite Carers. I have a strong third-sector background blended with a long-looooong time working in the private sector. This gives me a unique blend of a commercial head and a charitable heart.

What’s your Trustee role at Unite Carers
I am very new and only joined the Board in the last few months. Fundraising is my forte so I try and help the team where I can. Unite are very proficient at funding so I tend to be there more as a sounding board.

How did you first become involved and why?
I have worked with Unite on previous projects supporting young carers and was so impressed with the level of professionalism and the real care they give to their community. As soon as I got the chance, I became a Trustee as want to see this charity flourish and to leave a wonderful legacy.

Do you have any interests and hobbies? What are your passions?
My passion is animals and nature, having been a part-time dairy farmer, I love nothing more than being outside. I have hung up the wellies but still have love for all things green and with four legs!

What’s the worst thing about being a Trustee
There’s nothing that I would say is a bad thing, it’s a real privilege. The one thing I wish I had more of is time – Working full-time and being a Trustee can be a juggling act. But wouldn’t have it any other way.
